let’s not dance around this businesses exist to make money which means that your content marketing strategy needs to be converting sales and leads other ways like what’s the point but in a world with an ever-changing social media landscape with algorithm changes and of course the super fussy consumers how are you supposed to keep up well in this video I’m going to share with you what you need to put together a killer content marketing strategy for 2020 we’re going to go over what you need to be creating how you can be doing it and how you can keep your sanity along the way [Music] hi my name doing video as a part of your content marketing strategy for 2020 you might as well just give up and I know you don’t want to hear that because you probably have a million reasons why you have not hit content that was consumed online was video why wouldn’t you want to stake out your PI claim of that and make sure that you are creating content that people are finding and being their expert like why so let’s get you started on the path to content marketing success for 2020 that’s when you convert sales and leads for you and make you the industry expert that you already are we’re gonna go over what you should make how you should create it where you should be sharing it and how you can keep up with all of those leads let’s dive into this so the first thing you’re gonna do before anything ok maybe not anything like get some caffeine cuz ya got some time ahead of you you’re gonna be doing some research ok if people aren’t finding your content that people aren’t finding you because they’re looking for a solution to a problem they have your content isn’t going to work you’re not creating content for you or because of what like you want to say you need to be creating content based on what people are looking for if your content is when people are looking for you they’re not going to find you they’re not going to watch you and they’re definitely not going to buy from you so make sure your search strategy is on point so order to research though you need to know three things going to this first you know what your niche industry is number two is you know what you’re trying to sell to them and three you know the demographics of the people you want to sell your niche product to make sure to clearly define these three things because this is going to be the foundation of basically everything you’re going to content marketing but very importantly for your search strategy so let me give you an example let’s say that you’re a local spa and you want to sell more of your spa packages to your demographic which you have clearly defined as people who are 21 to 50 so how would you create content for them while you clearly define that you are a part of the health and wellness industry you are part of that you want to sell it’s probably your subscription service or the different packages you offer and your demographic is like we just said people 21 to 50 but also who are probably within a 5-mile radius of your stores location so knowing this now you can figure out what it is you should be creating for people these are going to be things like best spa location in whatever city you live in or best way to relax when your kids are driving you crazy or back-to-school time take some time for self care if you can’t tell there’s a theme in my mind right now my kids are going back to school super excited about that anyway I digress by using these search words and key terms this is going to be the foundation of what you’re going to create for your content because it’s already being searched for and it’s stuff that you are an expert in now if you’re wanting a more in-depth tutorial on how you can do search terms I want you to click the card up in the screen right now or get the link in the description after this video is over where I’m going to help you and show you how to do in-depth searches based on the keywords you were looking for when creating your content marketing strategy okay so now that you know what you should be creating now it’s time to start creating now hold up before you go sit your booty down in front of that camera I want you to keep three very important things in mind number one is you want to know what you’re going to say now I tend to script out what I’m going to say because I want to make sure that it’s on point I super go off scripts but it’s important for me to have all of my thoughts organized and of course I turn them into a blog for later but at the very least you should be bullet pointing out what you’re saying I don’t think that you should script because then it’ll come across as really stiff and no one will want to watch your video and it’s gonna be really bad because you’re new to this so don’t you’ve had bullet point out what you want to say and just remember like you’re the expert you know this stuff sometimes though we just need to organize our thoughts next is you want to think about way you are going to be recording this now I have set up a studio just so that I can talk to you here on a regular basis if you’re going to be doing video regularly I highly would encourage you to find a way to set up a studio so all you have to do is clap your hands and let’s go on or say Alexa turn on the studio lights Alexa do not turn on the studio they’re already on anyway whatever that may be you want to make sure that you are setting up a spot that’s going to accomplish a couple different things one you want people to see you so whether it’s finding a nice window to sit by or you buy studio lighting or it’s just a well-lit room make sure people can see you and the next thing is is make sure that they can hear you now I have invested in a mic for talking to you guys because I wanted to make sure that it was very clear that you could hear me but there are some things that are a little unforgivable when it comes to audio you definitely don’t want to have like loud cars going by or people who are constantly walking around and talking but other some things that people don’t think about are like really loud air-conditioning ducts or blowing wind that can be very distracting for someone who wants to take you seriously and consume your content you also don’t want to let your audience get distracted in your environment again things that are like people walking by in the background maybe you have an open door whatever it may be make sure that this environment you are filming in can keep people focused on you and they’re not getting distracted and I know you’re reading my signs and stuff but I hope that you’re into what I’m saying too and the last thing I need to do in our three steps is remember that you are talking to a person I know it’s really hard because you see a camera and you’re like oh this thing is judging me and having 15 pounds and I look terrible and whatever else your hang-ups are talk to it like it’s a person pretend you’re talking to a customer that came to your door asking for this specific problem pretend you’re at a now working event help make one of your favorite people in the world come stand behind the camera so you have someone that you can look at and talk to whatever it needs to be together done have an actual conversation with somebody so that they can feel like when you’re watching the content you’re talking just to them I see you I hear you let’s do this so now that we know what we’re making and now we know that we’ve created something now we need to share everywhere I am a very very firm believer that you should create a piece of content once and use it to share everywhere that is why these videos are pillar pieces they are holding up the foundation of all of your content marketing so that you can share it in all of the places upload the video to YouTube optimize it so that it can last forever and be evergreen and continuously found my best performing videos on this YouTube channel are from like a year and a half to two years ago make something that people are gonna find and that’s relevant for a long time upload that video to Facebook as well so you can have current relevant content that usually has a 48 to 72 hours shelf life for the newsfeed and if you really want to make sure you get seen put some ad dollars behind it there are a lot of really great tools that can take this video and cut it into little segments that you have continued ways to share with people and add more content to your calendar so you’re able to like create short clips for Instagram or create even a graphic rants original quote based on what you’ve said you can turn them into Instagram or Facebook stories there’s a lot of mileage that you can get out of this hell share that YouTube video up on Twitter or on LinkedIn just keep sharing that message because you don’t want to just make something once and share it in one place and hope that everybody that has ever wanted to know anything from you ever finds it it’s super unrealistic to make sure you are continuing to share your content and creating it and putting in places where people want to consume it by promoting this content that you’ve created it’s going to put it in front of people that want to consume it and then you’re going to be able to put them in to your sales funnel and speaking of sales funnel the fourth thing that you want to do in this awesome content strategy for 2020 is have a sales funnel now your sales funnel is going to be kind of a part of an other marketing strategy so when you’re creating something you know people are searching for and it’s skinny in front of your exact target demographic you want to have a way to keep talking to them whether it’s encouraging them to subscribe to youtube channel or following you on social media there are a lot of other things that you can do as well like maybe you should have a freebie that you put on your website with a pop I have a pop up on my website that drives new leads to my email list on a weekly basis like I probably at a minimum of five to ten every week and I have been with the same opt-in I’ve created like a year and a half two years ago and it keeps working because if it works it works if people are consuming your content from a blog Lee created or the video that you’ve done you want to make sure that you’re tracking that progress to along the way you want people to always come back to your brand and sometimes they are not going to subscribe and sometimes they’re not going to hit like and sometimes they are not going opt-in to your freebie so how can you continue to track them well there are a lot of really great tools that are very easy to add that will allow for you to track first thing you want to install on to your website is something called a Facebook pixel it’s something that you can create which I have a video for you on how to get that Facebook pixel created where you can embed it into a line of code on to your website and then every single time something interacts with your page or goes to your website you’re able to use advertising targeted advertising to track them and continuing a conversation and stay in front of them another way to do that is with remarketing with Google it’s literally the same principle as Facebook but with Google and then every website you go to your ads and stuff can follow them around they’re gonna be like like I said before I use email marketing is a big part of what I do to keep people up to date with what I have going on so offer a freebie the people that has a lot of value that you don’t have to keep recreating like make it once and put them into that email funnel just remember that whenever you’re creating something and whenever you’re emailing them something like make sure you’re not spamming them and continuing to just annoy them it’s going to get you put into a spam filter or unsubscribe and people aren’t going to listen so continue to offer value to people based on how they came to you if you’re offering value and it’s kind of massive sales it’s going to work so much better for you and it’s also really wonderful about these different tools and things that you can do for your content strategy is you can track them and then you’re gonna know what is or is not working if you find something that’s working really great dive into it and make more content around it and if something isn’t working well at least now you know and so you can pivot and correct and make something better next it’s important to make sure you’re tracking what’s going on so that you can make sure you’re doing a lot of wonderful things for your content plan oh yeah number five is you need a plan I love me a content marketing calendar gets me so excited I live to really sit down every month and I plan on everything I’m going to create for the month and it’s usually two videos a week or right here on YouTube I spend time doing this exact thing that I am teaching you I spend time researching keywords and I find out what’s trending and I pay attention to what my customers are asking me to make for them I go through the comments I get on YouTube and I create based on their questions that they have and then I put together a calendar and I know what I’m gonna make and then the calendar tells me when it needs to go live and when I need to make other things that go around it having a schedule is going to tell me exactly what I need to make and when it’s going to go out so I can track the progress and know what’s going on there are a lot of really great tools that are out there they’re gonna help you with organizing your content calendar so she once you’ve scheduled all that content to work now what I do when I’m treating is I create kind of all the ones I sit down one day and I figure out what I’m gonna make and then the next day I record it all and send it off to my editor to get put together and then I have to create around that a blog post gets put together the social sharing has to happen all that stuff and then use a tool to help me manage it all and make sure then hitting all my marks what I use is a tool called send a bull which allows for me to organize all my content get it scheduled out and and I can see it in a calendar so not like missing any days then I can be very consistent that also allows for me to track the conversations continue to engage as well as providing me with reporting so that I know exactly what’s working and what isn’t so if you want more information about edible I got a link for it down in the description for you to check out as well another idea for sharing your content with the world is to tap into your team now if you’re a solopreneur you know you might have friends and family that might be very supportive of what you’re doing and they can act as your team as well but by empowering your team to share your content they’re essentially being a brand evangelist for you and putting their own spin in their own verbage on something that you’re already creating by empowering your team you’re allowing for your content to have more success and that the daily egg found that they had a 97 increase in engagement and leads by empowering their team to create and share what they were doing 2020 is going to have so many things that are going to happen and we don’t fully know what that landscape is but building this foundation that’s going to work for you ongoing is not going to hurt you so go into 2020 with a great level of success and build your strategy around this video pillar and it’s going to
