In this video you’re going to learn for content marketing strategies to help you grow your business let’s get started hey guys Angie with Angie guns are calm here and today I want to talk about content marketing and four strategies within content marketing that you can use to help you grow your business now before I jump in I want to talk a little bit about the three phases of marketing so if you did not watch my previous video from last week about the three phases of online marketing I want you to go do that first and I have a link down below so click that link go check out that video and then come back over here now in that video I talked about the three phases of online marketing and the first phase is content marketing and I also talked about how if you are just starting out with your business or you’re just beginning to market your business online it’s really important to start out in that very first phase which is content marketing so if that’s where you’re at in your business either you are brand spanking new maybe you’re a few months old or maybe you’ve been doing this for years and years and years but you just haven’t seen the growth and attraction that you want to see and you’re kind of almost starting from scratch with marketing your business then I want you to start with phase 1 which is content marketing now in this video I’m going to share four different content marketing strategies but I want to talk about the different types of content that you’re going to want to create in order to employ these marketing strategies so when I’m talking about content creation I’m referring to written content visual content which would be videos like this one and then audio content which is like podcasts now when you’re starting out creating content to market your business I want you to focus on one of those three forms of content don’t try to create you know blog posts and YouTube videos and a podcast all at the same time you are going to complete overwhelm yourself the businesses and the companies that are able to employ all three of those types of content into their marketing mix are companies with big teams and big budgets so as a small business owner as an entrepreneur I want you to really narrow that focus to one form of content now to help you decide which type of content is the best for you and for your business I want you to take a few minutes to sit down and really think about your strengths your weaknesses and your interests when you consume content what type do you prefer to consume do you love to read articles and blog posts or do you tend to lean more towards YouTube and consuming video content or maybe you love podcasts and you like to listen to podcasts while you work out or you do your commute to work every day so I want you to factor the type of content that you prefer to consume and then you need to think about what skills you have and resources you have to be able to create content now in my opinion written content is the easiest to start with but for some people maybe not now my husband Trevor is not at all comfortable with the written word he is so much better on video so for him video made sense but for me the written word was what made sense when I was just starting out my business it felt less intimidating less scary and didn’t seem to consume as many resources I didn’t need to invest in fancy tools to just be able to write a good piece of content so think about what are you most capable of producing today right here now what can you do quickly and comfortably and that’s the type of content that I want you to focus on first I think some people make the mistake of saying oh I hear podcasts are really big I need to do a podcast and then they dive into it and realize wow this is really overwhelming this is really intimidating there’s all these tools there’s so much to learn and they burn out before they even published their first episode so that’s why I say I want you to focus on what is it that you’re interested in what type of content do you consume and then what type of content is easiest for you to produce right now okay so once you’ve figured that out you’ve figured out is it written visual audio content that you’re going to create now it’s time to dig into those four content marketing strategies so the first strategy I’m going to talk about is Pinterest now if you followed me for a while and you’re subscribed to my youtube channel you know that I love Pinterest it is my jam it’s how I exploded my business growth in the very beginning when I first launched my blog in 2016 Pinterest is an extremely powerful tool to help you get your content out there and drive traffic back to your business now if you’re not familiar with how Pinterest works you are in the right place because I have an entire playlist on my youtube channel with 37 Pinterest marketing tips and I also have a really great webinar to help you get started with Pinterest and you can sign up for that by heading to Angie Kinsler comm slash Pinterest and I also have a link down below in the description so you can check that out now Pinterest works more as a search engine than a social network so a lot of people lump Pinterest into all those social networks Facebook Instagram and they just kind of put them all together I want you to think about Pinterest more like Google Pinterest operates off of content and keyword rich descriptions which means it’s extremely powerful tool to drive traffic to your content and Pinterest can work no matter the type of content that you’re creating so if you’re producing blog posts video and a podcast whatever it is as long as you have a unique URL for each piece of your content you can then design custom pins which are images that live on Pinterest that will then drive back to those URLs so Pinterest is a really powerful really incredible content marketing strategy to drive traffic to your business in fact when I first started my blog I received over five thousand page views in my first 30 days that translated to 543 email subscribers and this was my very first 30 days as a blogger as a business owner which was really really incredible and my growth just continued to explode beyond that and that’s why I love Pinterest as a content marketing strategy the second content marketing strategy I want to talk about is YouTube now you’re obviously familiar with YouTube because you are watching this video right now and YouTube is also very much a search engine again some people tend to lump it in with a lot of those social media channels and wow there’s a social aspect involved to youtube because you can comment on this video you can like it you can share it with others but the really powerful part of YouTube for a marketer for a business owner is the search function and so the ability to put special keywords within your titles within your descriptions to add tax to your videos helps you reach your ideal customer when they are looking for exactly what it is that you have to offer so YouTube is a very very powerful content marketing strategy but keep in mind YouTube only comes to play if you’re creating video content so if you chose to create written content you can avoid YouTube altogether and if you chose to create audio for your content such as a podcast you could repurpose those audio files and put them on YouTube but if you’re just getting started I don’t want you to focus on that just yet because it’s going to add another element of overwhelm and chaos so focus on producing that podcast on the platforms mastering the SEO within iTunes and all the other podcast platforms before you then try and conquer YouTube okay let’s talk about the third content marketing strategy and that is SEO or search engine optimization now SEO does come into play within Pinterest and within YouTube but for the purposes of these strategies when I say SEO I’m referring specifically to search engine optimization on your own website for the purposes of Google searches and the SEO work you do will also help you rank in other search engines but for the most part we want to really focus on Google and mastering that Google search algorithm now SEO is an extremely extremely powerful tool and powerful content marketing strategy but I want to caution you that it’s going to take a while so when I first started my blog I was not getting organic search traffic and my husband knew what he was doing he was very skilled at search engine optimization and he’s become much better over the past two years and so when I launched my blog Trevor made sure to SEO optimized every page and every post and what happened was in the beginning well nothing it took about six to nine months for one of my blog posts to start to rank and it slowly grew every single month and you know that first even the first two years it really wasn’t bringing a whole lot of traffic for the most part Pinterest was driving the majority of the traffic for my entire website now two years later I have a blog post that is bringing in thousands of visitors every single week and what I’m starting to notice is that one blog post alone is now generating more traffic for my website than a lot of the other strategies that I’ve been spending time and money to bring that traffic into my site and this is all happening organically without me having to do a thing this post is just living out there and the SEO and the keywords are doing all the work for me but keep in mind that took two years two years to get to this point so when you are doing SEO work I don’t want it to be your one and only content marketing strategy because it’s gonna take time and chances are after about three months you are going to get so frustrated you’re not gonna see much change much improvement and you’re gonna want to give up and quit and jump ship so I want you to view the SEO content marketing strategy as something that you do all the time with all your content and it’s real a long-term focus so SEO should always happen and it should be a part of that marketing mix that you do but it is not your one and only strategy you need to employ other strategies so either Pinterest or YouTube to try and get that more immediate traffic to your website okay so now let’s talk about the fourth and final content marketing strategy that I’m going to address in this video today and that is social media social media marketing can be a really powerful tool for your business if used correctly but I want to caution you that social media should not be your one and only content marketing strategy so when you produce a piece of content whether it’s a blog post a YouTube video or a podcast episode your one and only strategy shouldn’t be well I’ll just post that link on Twitter and Facebook and Instagram and it’ll drive in loads of traffic that is absolutely not going to happen unless for some reason you have hundreds of thousands of followers on your Instagram and your instafamous don’t expect for a post leading to a piece of your content to generate hordes of traffic for your business it’s just not going to happen I want you to view social media as a way to connect with your audience and your ideal customer on a deeper level I don’t want you to view it as a way to attract your ideal customer to you it’s a way to connect with people who already know about you so you’re going to use your content marketing strategies from search engines to bring in brand new people into your world into your funnel introduce them to your business once they know about you now they can connect with you on whatever social media channel it is that you’ve chosen to focus on and a little sidebar there I want you to focus on one social media channel don’t try and do them all and if you want to know more about why I say this I’ve got a video where I talk all about this I’ve got a link to it down below or you can go to my channel and search for my video about my five-step social media strut for busy entrepreneurs I talk about why it’s important to focus on one social media channel okay so sidebar over let’s get back to social media marketing as the fourth and final content marketing strategy so you’re going to use social media as a way to share your pieces of content with your existing audience your existing customers you want to encourage them to go check out that new piece of content share it with others comment on the post engage with you so that you can build a deeper relationship and build raving fans who then talk about you and bring more people into your business so that’s really the role of social media marketing it’s not to be treated as a search engine where you are bringing in people and your ideal customers are finding you based on searches and keywords it’s really meant to deepen that relationship with your existing customers okay so now you know those four content marketing strategies I have a little homework or some action steps that I want you to take so first I want you to sit down and decide what is that one form of content that I want to create that I would be best at creating I have the resources and tools to start creating it now and I want you to focus on that one thing so is it writing blog posts and articles is it producing videos or is it producing audio content such as a podcast episode figure out what makes most sense for you your business and your ideal customer and then focus on that once you know that then you can decide which type of content marketing makes the most sense for the type of content that I am creating is it going on Pinterest is it YouTube you do need to do some SEO no matter what you choose but maybe you want to put more focus on your Google search results and trying to get that maybe you have the time to invest and and let it scro really really slowly and then with your social media marketing strategy I want you to decide which channel you want to focus on and add that to that content mark mix so essentially you should it be employing about two to three of the content marketing strategies that I’ve talked about in this video so choose either Pinterest or YouTube I wouldn’t start with both wait until you’ve mastered one then you can add the other if that makes sense for you and your business and the type of content you’re creating you also want to be doing some sort of SEO to try and drive that organic traffic back to your website and then you want to be doing a little bit of social media marketing where you’re engaging with your customers and your audience your followers on a deeper level on just one channel now to help you out a little further don’t forget about that free Pinterest webinar that I have you can sign up and get instant access to watch it right now at Angie Kinser com / Pinterest so I hope you found this video helpful if you did please comment down below I love to hear from you I love to
